freak thermometer

Women who use chewing gum in their aspect
Can be seen here on the streets of Calcutta
Jostling for space with other mouths that draw attention
As they come in groups or single
But it is something about them rolling their tongues around
Busy cheek by swarthy jowl

This is not my focus, it is the fluff
So soft on my face
In soft light in a soft breeze
It lulls me to sleep
I’m sad but poetic
That would do I think
One way or the other
With my final sigh
I’ll remember my father and mother
